Why should I get the vaccine?
The TBE vaccine protects against Tick-borne Encephalitis (TBE), a viral infection of the brain and spinal cord that is transmitted through tick bites.
Tick bites can lead to symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea, vomiting and fatigue. In severe cases, long-term neurological damage such as brain inflammation (encephalitis) and persistent fatigue can occur.
About 35% of people with encephalitis develop permanent consequences, such as difficulty concentrating, hearing loss, balance problems, and paralysis.
There is no specific treatment for TBE. Therefore, vaccination is the best protection against the disease and its potentially serious complications.
Who should be vaccinated?
TBE is primarily found in forested areas and tall grass, where ticks thrive.
Activities such as hunting, golf, orienteering, horseback riding, camping, hiking, fishing, cycling and canoeing increase the risk of tick bites.
Risk areas: North Zealand, Gribskov, Harreskov, Bornholm, Tokkekøb Hegn, Tisvilde Hegn and certain areas in Sweden.
Progress & protection
The basic TBE vaccination course consists of 3 doses.
1. First dose on any day
2. Second dose 1-3 months (if urgently needed 2 weeks interval) after first dose
3. Third dose 5-12 months after the second dose
After 2 doses you are protected for 1 year / After 3 doses you are protected for 3 years

Tetanus

Tetanus is an infection caused by the bacterium Clostridium Tetani. The bacterium produces a toxin that leads to serious symptoms. Tetanus can be transmitted through even very small wounds, cuts, and abrasions where dirt and grime enter the body and release its toxin.
• Target group: Adults who have had major wounds or other skin lesions that may pose a risk of infection with tetanus bacteria should be revaccinated with this vaccine if they have not been vaccinated within the past 10 years. Revaccination is also recommended in connection with travel abroad (1 week before departure) if the last vaccination was more than 10 years ago.
• If you have already received a tetanus vaccination in the childhood vaccination programme, a booster dose will be administered as a revaccination to extend protection for another 10 years.
• For vaccination against tetanus, a combined vaccine is often used that protects against both tetanus and diphtheria (diTeBooster).
• The vaccine contains toxins from diphtheria and tetanus bacteria in a completely detoxified form (toxoids).
• One dose is given in connection with revaccination.
• Vaccination is postponed in cases of acute illness or fever, in people with severe allergies to one or more of the ingredients.
• Side effects: Redness, swelling and tenderness at the injection site, headache, fatigue, joint and muscle pain and fever.

Shingles, also called herpes zoster, is a painful rash with small blisters caused by the chickenpox virus (varicella-zoster virus). If you had chickenpox as a child, you can potentially develop shingles, as the virus hides in the nerve roots and can reactivate, resulting in pain and a rash. The rash is often hemilateral and belt-shaped, and the pain can be intense. Up to 20% will experience shingles in the major sensory nerve of the face, with a rash on the forehead, tip of the nose and sometimes the cornea, which can lead to vision loss. For people over 50, shingles can lead to long-term nerve pain (postherpetic neuralgia) that can last months or years and be disabling. The risk of stroke increases by 30% one year after shingles. Although antivirals can treat shingles and reduce the rash and course of the disease, nerve pain cannot be prevented and recurrent cases are possible.
• Vaccine content: Shingrix® is an inactivated, recombinant, adjuvanted vaccine that contains a surface protein from the varicella zoster virus (chickenpox virus).
• The vaccine is given in two doses with an interval of 2 (2-6) months and protects for up to 10 years.
• Target group for the vaccine: Adults over 50 years of age who want protection against herpes zoster (shingles) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), and adults over 18 years of age at increased risk of shingles.
• Who should not be vaccinated: People who have had serious side effects from previous vaccination with the vaccine.
People with severe allergies to one or more of the ingredients listed in the product summary.
In case of acute illness or fever above 38 ° C, vaccination should be postponed.
• Most common side effects: Redness, soreness and swelling at the injection site. Fatigue, chills and fever, muscle pain, headache, digestive system side effects (e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain)

Can you have an allergy to vaccines?
The vaccines are made from chicken protein, and people with egg and chicken allergies should not receive it. Our health professionals ask everyone before the vaccine is given.
I have already received a TBE vaccine before - can I continue the course with you?
Yes, we can complete your course or provide additional boosters. You just need to book an appointment for a single dose.
Is the vaccination registered in DDV?
Yes. All vaccines we give are registered in DDV with the corresponding batch number.
Can I see my vaccine somewhere?
Yes, all vaccines made by Valida Health are visible to you on sundhed.dk
Can I receive multiple vaccines at the same time?
Yes, you can receive a maximum of 3 vaccines on the same day.
Can you come out and vaccinate me?
We come to Tisvilde Naturrum and offer vaccination services. In addition, vaccination is available at our clinic in Hellerup.

How does the vaccination process work if I get the first shot at Tisvilde Naturrum?
The shingles vaccine and the TBE vaccine consist of a vaccination course of several doses. You can receive the first injection at Tisvilde Naturrum, after which the other injections are administered at the clinic in Hellerup at Strandvejen 130B.
Appointments for re-vaccination are made through a booking link, which is sent shortly after the first injection. When an appointment is made, a reminder about vaccinations is always sent the day before.
