Hormone Analysis

Hormone analysis is an option for those who wish to gain deeper insight into their hormone balance and identify causes of any discomfort – especially during menopause.

It is not a requirement to start treatment, but it can be relevant for those who are in doubt and want to be sure of their needs.

Frequently asked questions

Who should consider hormone therapy?

Hormone therapy may be considered during perimenopause or postmenopause, especially if symptoms affect quality of life and function. Treatment is based on a comprehensive assessment of symptoms, age, cycle, and life situation – not just blood tests.

Typical symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, sleep disturbances, heart palpitations, brain fog, low mood, muscle and joint pain, low libido, vaginal dryness, weight gain, and irregular bleeding.

What does it take to start treatment?

Initiation is based on an overall assessment of your symptoms, age, cycle pattern, and life situation. Our doctor, who specialises in women's hormones, will assess whether hormone therapy is relevant for you.

What does the treatment cost?

At Valida Health, we offer a subscription solution that includes the security and peace of mind that treatment requires. It costs DKK 500/month and can be canceled at any time - thus providing flexibility throughout your treatment.

What are the treatment options?

Valida Health offers 3 different hormone therapy options for women, of which estrogen and progesterone are the typical ones:

1) Estrogen: Relieves hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and vaginal dryness; administered as a patch, gel, or vaginal capsule/cream.

2) Progesterone: Protects the uterine lining and stabilizes sleep and mood; administered orally as a micronized capsule (continuously or cyclically).

3) Testosterone: Increases libido, energy, and muscle strength when levels are low; administered selectively as a low daily dose.

How is safe and effective treatment ensured?

At Valida Health, safe and effective hormone therapy is ensured through a thorough assessment of symptoms, blood tests, and lifestyle, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration between nurses and doctors. Treatment is individually tailored with a low starting dose and continuously adjusted based on symptoms and blood test results.

Ongoing follow-ups, lifestyle advice, and regular control blood tests are also an integral part of the entire hormone treatment process.

Do you need a blood test to start treatment?

No, blood tests are not always necessary for initiation – they are primarily used for safety and monitoring. Treatment can begin based on symptoms alone, but we often recommend a thorough work-up for the best possible results.

Do you have to live in a specific place to receive treatment?

No, the program at Valida Health is nationwide. We collaborate with healthcare partners throughout the country, so you can receive guidance and support whether you live in Jutland, Funen, or Zealand.

Is hormone replacement therapy (HRT) safe?

Yes, treatment is safe with correct diagnosis and monitoring. We take into account individual contraindications and follow national guidelines, and our doctor always adjusts the dose to the individual.

How does follow-up work?

Follow-up can take place both by phone and in person. We monitor symptoms, side effects, and blood tests, and continuously adjust treatment to ensure optimal effect and safety. The standard includes:

  • Personal consultation with monthly follow-up
  • Control blood test every 3-6 months (as needed)
  • Liver and lipid profile after 6-12 months (as needed)

In addition, you are always welcome to contact us if any questions or need for guidance should arise.

Women and menopause

  • Menopause - Menopause

Menopause is a period in all women's lives, an important period just like puberty/first menstruation, and pregnancy/childbirth/breastfeeding. The comparison is apt, as the changes in a woman's body and mind are very significant in all three periods. These periods are all very complex.

For women, hormonal balance is crucial throughout life. From puberty and the menstrual cycle to pregnancy and menopause, hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone affect women's reproductive function, mood, and overall health.
Menopause occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 for the vast majority of women, and is defined as the point at which a woman has not had menstruation for one year. Menopause itself is a single day! For Danish women, it typically occurs around the age of 52 and lasts for an average of 8 years.

  • When do symptoms appear?

Symptoms can appear several years before menstruation ceases (peri-menopause) and continue afterwards (post-menopause). On average, it takes Danish women eight years to go through menopause.

No two women experience this period in the same way. Symptoms can also change throughout the period. Menopause occurs because the production of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone first fluctuates, and then decreases.

  • Symptoms of menopause

There are at least 36 symptoms associated with menopause, such as:

    • Depression
    • Sleep problems
    • Irregular bleeding
    • Low libido
    • Mood swings
    • Vaginal dryness
    • Weight gain
    • Hot flashes
