Hormone analysis
Depending on your gender, you will get a thorough insight into your hormonal levels, which greatly influence your hair.
For women:
-
FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone)
Shows how the ovaries function – imbalance can affect hair growth through altered hormone production.
-
LH (Luteinizing hormone)
Reveals ovulation and hormone balance – disturbances can be linked to hair loss, e.g. with PCOS.
-
Estradiol (E2)
The most important estrogen for hair – low levels can lead to thinner, weaker hair.
-
Progesterone
Supports hormone balance and counteracts androgens – low levels can contribute to increased hair loss.
-
Testosterone
Elevated levels can lead to hormonal hair loss (androgenic alopecia) and thinner hair.
-
Hemoglobin (Hb)
Shows the blood's oxygen transport – low levels can cause fatigue and negatively affect hair follicles.
-
Ferritin
Reflects the body's iron stores – low levels are one of the most common causes of hair loss in women.
-
TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone)
Controls metabolism – imbalance can lead to both hair loss and altered hair quality.
For men:
-
P-Testosterone
Reflects the total testosterone level – imbalance can affect hair loss, especially through conversion to DHT, which is the main cause of male hair loss.
-
Prolactin
Elevated levels can inhibit testosterone production and thus indirectly contribute to hair loss.
-
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA)
Primarily used to assess the prostate – relevant in hormonal treatment, as changes in testosterone can affect both PSA and hair loss.
-
Lutropin (LH)
Controls testosterone production – low or high levels can indicate hormonal imbalance, which affects hair growth.
-
Follitropin (FSH)
Reflects testicular function – imbalance can be a sign of hormonal disturbances that indirectly affect hair.
-
Hematocrit
Shows the proportion of red blood cells – too low levels can reduce oxygen supply to hair follicles and affect hair growth.
-
Long-term blood sugar (HbA1c)
Reflects blood sugar over time – elevated levels can affect blood circulation and hormone balance, which can worsen hair loss.
Long-term blood sugar
Long-term blood sugar (HbA1c) shows how your blood sugar has been over time and provides insight into the body's metabolic balance. Elevated blood sugar can affect blood circulation and reduce nutrient supply to hair follicles, which can weaken hair growth. At the same time, unstable blood sugar can increase inflammation and hormonal imbalance, both of which can contribute to hair loss.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is important for the formation of red blood cells and the oxygen supply to the body's cells, including hair follicles. In case of deficiency, hair follicles may receive less oxygen and nutrients, which can lead to weakened hair growth and increased hair loss. At the same time, B12 plays a role in cell division, which is crucial for healthy and strong hair.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays an important role in the growth cycle of hair follicles and the activation of new hair. Low levels can lead to inactive hair follicles, which can result in increased hair loss. At the same time, vitamin D is important for immune balance, which also affects healthy hair growth.
