What is TB?

TBE (Tick Borne Encephalitis), or Central European encephalitis, is a viral infection caused by flaviviruses that are transmitted to humans through tick bites. The disease is found especially in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia, Siberia, the Balkans and certain parts of Germany and Austria. In Denmark, most cases have been seen on Bornholm, but since 2018 there have also been cases outside the island, especially in North Zealand. TBE occurs in small, delimited areas called microfoci, e.g. meadow areas by watercourses, where ticks can infect humans through tick bites. The risk of infection can be reduced through vaccination, which is recommended for people at high risk of tick bites in risk areas, such as hunters, campers and forest workers.

Vaccination course:

The vaccination against TBE consists of three doses:

  1. The first dose is given at an optional time.
  2. The second dose is given 1-3 months after the first dose.
  3. The third dose is given 5-12 months after the second dose.

After completing the basic vaccination, a booster vaccination is recommended after 3 years, and then a revaccination every 5 years for people under 60 years of age, and every 3 years for people over 60 years of age.

Symptoms and diagnosis

Symptoms occur in two phases: first flu-like symptoms and later infection of the central nervous system. Diagnosis is made through blood and spinal fluid tests.

For organizations, clubs and associations that spend time in nature, TBE means an increased risk of illness among members. Therefore, you should consider getting vaccinated to be able to experience nature safely.

Our solution – Vaccination directly to your organization

We offer a practical solution for organizations: Our field vaccination team comes directly to you. This means your members can be vaccinated quickly and easily, without leaving the organization, saving time and minimizing disruption.

Benefits for you:

1. Reduce the risk of TBE infection
The TBE virus is transmitted through the bite of ticks, which are found in forested areas and grassy vegetation. If members regularly spend time in risk areas, such as forests and scrublands, where ticks are present, vaccination against TBE can be a good preventive measure. Fewer cases of infection mean less absence and higher participation in your events, meetings and activities.

2. Promote the organization's reputation
By offering vaccination against TBE, the organization not only strengthens health, but also its reputation as a responsible and forward-looking entity. It shows that you take responsibility for both the well-being of your members, which can attract new members and retain existing ones.

3. Flexibility and convenience
Our mobile vaccination team adapts to your schedule and ensures an efficient and fast process so that your daily activities are not disrupted. Our vaccination service makes it easy for your members to get vaccinated without having to leave the organization.
